This all natural stretch mark healing body butter is wonderful for stretch mark prevention and fading and it smells like the Starbucks Lemon Loaf! It smells seriously delicious and feels amazing on the skin. It leaves the skin glowing, hydrated, smooth and soft.
This recipe would be perfect for those losing weight, who have lost weight, growing teens, pregnant ladies (pre, during and post baby) or anyone wanting to soften and brighten their skin.
Stretch marks are a hot topic. Everyone wants to either prevent them or fade them once they have them. Preventing stretch marks can be done but living a well rounded healthy lifestyle is the key. The best way to prevent stretch marks is by having an overall healthy routine including daily use of a body butter.
The top things you want to do to prevent stretch marks are:
1) Keep your skin moisturized everyday. Especially your areas of concern. This is best done directly after your bath or shower when your skin is still moist.
2) Eat a healthy diet full of vegetables, fruit, healthy fats and whole grains. Your skin is your largest organ and what is going on inside is directly correlated to what shows on the outside.
3) Avoid smoking, excess alcohol, added sugar and food additives. All of these can effect the skin in a negative way by breaking down collagen. This leads to stretch marks, sagging, etc.
4) Stay hydrated by drinking enough water everyday.
5) Exercise daily.
If you have severe stretch marks and have done all of the above for 1 year or more it may be time to see a dermatologist. If this is a major concern for you and all of the natural ways of preventing or reducing the appearance of stretch marks have not worked there are other options. We are living in a time when there are amazing lasers that can help us with our concerns.
Of course, I would love everyone to try the natural way and commit to that for a long period of time so that the results will show. Preventing stretch marks is the best course of action but if you already have stretch marks that’s okay. Lets get to work lightening them in the most natural way possible.
All Natural Stretch Mark Healing Body Butter
The base of this body butter is made up of shea butter, olive oil and coconut oil. All of these rich emollients have been trusted beauty staples for centuries. They have unique hydrating characteristics and when combined are rich, creamy and soothing for the skin.
The next two powerful ingredients are rose hip seed oil and pure vitamin E. Both of these “holy grail” staples in the beauty world are powerful antioxidants. They reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and give a glowing effect to the skin.
The next few ingredients are beloved essential oils. We start with frankincense.
Frankincense was an extremely popular oil for the Hebrews and Egyptians. It was offered as a gift to Jesus and was of such a value at that time that is was worth almost as much as gold. This essential oil has been used for many years to bring vibrancy back and to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Herbally frankincense is used as an anti-inflammatory.
Lemon adds a fresh enlightening smell to this body butter. Lemon is said to brighten pale and dull complexions by helping speed cell turnover. Lemon is also said to help remove dead skin cells and soften scar tissue. Lemon does have a brightening effect on the skin and direct sunlight exposure should be avoided after using this on the skin.
To be honest I added vanilla because I enjoy the scent and it is gentle on the skin. This is what gives this recipe the cake-like smell.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup Organic Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Oil
- 1/2 Cup Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

- 5-10 Drops Organic Vanilla Essential Oil

Directions:
- Place all ingredients into your food processor and blend until completely smooth stopping to scrape down the sides.
- Place fresh body butter into sealed tight containers and store in a cool dark place (I use mason jars and store mine in my bathroom cabinet. You just do not want this in direct sunlight).
- Apply to skin directly after bathing or showering every morning or evening.
- *If you are working on preventing stretch marks (growing, pregnant, etc) you will want to apply your body butter to your areas of concern every morning and every evening.
