I am so excited to share this recipe with you today. My husband and I agree that these Secretly Healthy Fudgy Brownies are the best recipe I have created this year!
David said that this is his favorite baked dessert recipe I have ever made period. I, myself, was shocked at how delicious these brownies turned out. These truly are the Best Secretly Healthy Fudgy Brownies online.
These vegan brownies are fudgy, rich, chewy with a perfect crust.
Not only are these brownies absolutely divine, their ingredients are kind of shocking. These brownies are dairy free, peanut free, grain free, bean free, no added sugar (refined sugar free), flourless and packed with fiber and nutrients.
The base of these brownies is ground flaxseed and bananas – unbelievable.
I used my raw whole-seed flaxseed from Bob’s Redmill for this recipe. I ground the flaxseed in my coffee grinder to form a fresh, fine flour. I then placed the freshly ground flaxseed into warm water and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. This creates a fabulous binding agent while keeping the brownies chewy and fudgy.
For the chocolate chips I used my favorite nut-free, dairy-free, gluten-free vegan chocolate chips from Enjoy Life.
For the bananas in this recipe it is always wise to use super ripe bananas. Below you will see that I used dates instead of a sugar or syrup. The fresher, chewier and softer the dates the better.
I made this recipe in an 8×8 glass baking dish lined with parchment paper and the batter didn’t fill the entire pan. It does expand some but these brownies will not be super thick if you use the same size pan as I did.
A couple of tips – everyone’s oven varies so when making this recipe ensure that you let the brownies bake fully. You can test them by touching the top to see if they are stable and also by using a tooth pick to see if it comes out fairly clean (with this recipe it won’t be 100% clean no matter what).
Two more musts for this recipe – you must line your glass baking dish with parchment paper. The recipe will stick if you don’t use parchment paper. It makes removing the brownies super simple. This recipe has to completely cool in the pan before removing and cutting. I let mine set for at least twenty minutes (longer if necessary).
This recipe is an absolute must-make and one that you will make over and over!
This recipe is gluten free, vegan, raw, dairy free, high fiber and packed with secret healthy ingredients.

Couldn’t resist making these brownies as soon as I saw your post. I had to get ready for work so I didn’t have much time. I quickly scanned my kitchen for all the ingredients, I didn’t have flax, but I had Chia seeds, didn’t have choc chips or instanot coffee, I had everything else though. I also don’t have a food processor, just a Nutri Bullet. So I took a chance and soaked the chia, put everything in the Nutribullet and mixed it up, it took a few times of stopping it and shaking everything down because it was a thick mixture. After about 5 minutes of the mixing process I put it in the pan with the parchment paper and then thought, this might be good with walnuts, so I pushed some walnuts in it before I baked it. I’m so glad I took the time (which wasn’t very long) and made these, even with my modifications they are absolutely delicious just like you said!!!!! My husband’s bday is on Friday and he said he’d be totally happy with these brownies instead of a cake!! You’re amazing and thank you for sharing your recipes!!!! I will definitely make these again with all the right ingredients next time!!
Awww I love to hear this!!! Thank you for the love!!! And Happy Birthday Hubby!!!!
